Biztalk 2006 Configuration Error!

Hello:

I am using a username & passwd that belongs to Administrators group, SSO
Admin group and is admin on SqlServer 2005. When I run to Basic Config and
enter the username/passwd, it complains me that "Logon Failure: the user has
not been granted the requested logon type at this computer". The userid is
set to run services on this computer under user policy.

** I account does not run under any domain on this computer**

My setup is on Windows XP Pro, SP2/VS 2005/ SqlServer 2005. I had VS 2003
and BizTalk 2004 which I tried to upgrade and got the same error. In order to
get rid of it I completely uninstalled VS2003, SqlServer 2000 and BTS 2004
and started clean install of 2005 versions. I have done this 2 times with no
success.

Please help me in installing.

Thanks!

Can you try custom config and see if you get the same error?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response. Yes I tried using Custom Config but it doesn't
work. I still get the error when I try to assign Windows Service accounts for
ESSO config.

Thanks!

Extracted from the Installation Guide.

Considerations for Windows Group and Service Account
• BizTalk Server 2006 supports only <NetBIOS domain name>\<user> name
formats for service accounts and Windows groups.
• BizTalk Server supports only Active Directory domain groups and user
accounts when you use multiple-computer configurations, including SQL Server.
Domain groups include Domain Local Groups, Global Groups, and Universal
Groups, which are supported in single-server and in multiple-computer
environments. You must manually create all of the domain groups and accounts
before you configure BizTalk Server.
Note
Domain Local Groups are supported only if BizTalk Server and SQL Server are
both joined to the same domain and the log on user who configures BizTalk
Server is also a member of the domain where the Domain Local Groups exist.
• The user running the BizTalk Server configuration must have the following
rights:
• Administrator on the local machine
• SQL System Administrator rights on the SQL server
• Member of the domain group used for the "BizTalk Server Administrators"
group.
• Member of the domain group used for the "SSO Administrators" group.

The account(s) for ESSO should have loggon rights and cannot be a local
account. It has to be a domain account due to ESSO requirements.
